At least TWO credits in a directing role for feature, tv and/or online, or 

significant TVC or Games platform 

Credits on a recognised screen industry platform * or festival**.


At least ONE short film, proof-of concept, or music video screened publicly on a recognised screen industry 

platform* or festival**.


SCREENTIME



Minimum 2 hours of

credited screen time.***

* Recognised Screen Industry Platforms include: 

  • Australian Commercial Free-to-Air Broadcasters (7,9 & 10) 
  • Australian Public Broadcasters (ABC & SBS)
  • Australian Pay TV (Amazon Prime, Apple +, Binge, Disney +, Kayo, Netflix, Paramount+ & Stan) 
  • As well as major International Networks and Streaming platforms 

Applicants must meet this criteria, however The ADG will consider industry platforms not included on this list on application and with consideration to the time that the platform has been in operation, its industry reach, and public access.

** Recognised Festivals are included in this list. 

Applicants must meet this criteria, however The ADG will consider festivals not included on these lists on application and with consideration for the time that the festival has been in operation, its arm’s length judging process, the award cadence, its screening process, and industry/public access. 

*** In the case of directors of music clips, advertising, animation and  online content, or any other medium where each work is of short duration, ADG takes a flexible attitude to the screen time requirement.



Besides Established and Emerging Full Memberships, we also offer the following membership options: 

  • ASSOCIATE MEMBERSHIP: is open to all individual, industry professionals working in any area of film and television production and those interested in, and wishing to be a part of, the aims and objectives of the Australian Directors' Guild
  • STUDENT MEMBERSHIP: Students are welcome to join on a student membership and are given all the benefits of an associate membership. A current Student ID or a letter from their film school must be uploaded in the application form. 
  • RETIRED FULL MEMBERSHIP: Retired membership is available for Screen Directors who are Australian Citizens or Permanent Residents  above 60-years-old who are no longer actively contracted or working as screen directors. FULL Member benefits are extended to Retired Members at Associate Member rates.
