As part of Cinefest Oz frome the 28th August 2019 in Busselton, Western Australia the ADG is partnering with Cinefest Oz to run the first ever Directors Immersive. This is a 2-day event that runs on the 28th & 29th August for 12-15 participants, with some special events aimed at emerging directors. These will include panel sessions and talks by leading directors, screenings with Q&A’s, as well as a one-on-one session for participants on the development of their own project.
Some of the panellists and tutors include KINGSTON ANDERSON, CEO of the ADG; CATHY HENKEL, documentary filmmaker and Head of the WA Screen Academy; and filmmakers RACHEL WARD, BEN LAWRENCE, MEGAN RIAKOS, and others to be announced closer to the Festival.
As well as attending a number of sessions focused on directing, participants will submit an outline of a project they are hoping to direct in the future. This project will be presented in a closed session to a panel of experts who will provide each participant with feedback on their project. The project can be drama or documentary, and can be at any stage of development. The two-day event will be moderated by Australian Director’s Guild CEO, Kingston Anderson and WA Chapter Head, Cathy Henkel. There will also be an opportunity to meet with a leading CinefestOZ guest director.
Participants will be selected by an independent assessor panel to participate in this two-day workshop, which consists of a series of presentations, workshop sessions, screenings and discussions.
